Escuela es muy Comica

Today, I took role at school. Some of my pronunciations were slightly off due to my American -ism. One student is named David (pronounced Dah-veed). When I called his name, I accidentally said "Day-vid." The kids thought it was the absolute funniest thing they had ever heard - they howled with laughter and mocked "Day-vid." Apparently, they had never heard such a silly name before.

During phonics time, they were instructed to write several "interesting"sentences. Interesting meant not to use the word "nice," but desciptive words instead. Prior to writing on their own, the teacher had them practice as a class. She wrote the sentence "The moon is very nice" on the board and asked someone to improve it. Sebastion raised his hand to say "The moon is beautiful like a king's smile." Then, someone else thought of a sentence about a monkey. So, generally everyone's independent sentences were either about a king or a monkey. I corrected all of the papers when they were through and I came across Camilla's paper. One of her sentences read:

"The monkey was in the bathroom doing pu and wiwi." I asked the teacher if I should address the content, and she said no because it is an interesting sentence, so just correct the spelling.
And so then I found myself correcting the spelling for "pu and wiwi." This time, I was the one howling with laughter.

One other funny thing happened today (outside of school). One of my previous postings contains a picture of our method for drying clothes here. A few days ago, I couldn't find any clothespins when I needed to hang-dry my clothes outside, so I figured I would take the chance and just leave them on the strings without clothespins. As I put my clothes away today, I realized that I was missing my favorite blouse and my favorite sweater. I looked down from the window where the clothes were hung, and from 4 stories up, I couldn't see anything down there and figured they had disappeared forever.... Then as I left my building this afternoon, I found my two items of clothes literally tied to a fence in the front of my very large building (they had been hang dyring in the back of the building, and there is not even a pathway from the front to the back). Not a soul was around, and I suppose that how they got there will always be one of the great mysteries of the world....

Anyway, pretty useless stories, so if anyone is reading this, hopefully it suited you well if perhaps you needed to zone out for a few minutes...

Love to all....
