Beat It

Today at school, a couple of the boys kept saying "Michael Jackson." I had no idea why they kept saying his name - then at the end of the day, the teacher said "Okay everyone, I promised Julio that I would play the Beat It video for you today." Then, she turned You Tube on the overhead projector and played the Beat It video. The kids went crazy. Apparently that is a special treat they get to have sometimes. Many of the boys knew all of the words, and a couple of them kept their faces pressed on the screen as they sang and watched Michael. Imagine 27 Spanish 6 and 7 year olds dancing and singing to the Beat It video - quite a sight.

Also, a gorgous Spanish boy has a crush on me .... he has incredible azule eyes, dark hair, and the sweetest smile.... he is also 20 years too young. He is Pablo, a student in the class and he hugged me about ten times today, played with my feet, and batted his eyes at me all day long. Too cute.

I am still getting used to the school and finding my place there - that is always a bit of a challenge for me to define my role as a student teacher, but today was easier than yesterday, so I am sure that everything will come into place.
