I am still alive!

I will upload pictures and adventures soon, but I am in Paris and I can't bear to be inside on my computer! Attached is one photo from my first stop, Oxford, England. Oxford was beautiful, but incredibly touristy and I did not find much to do besides gaze at the beautiful buildings, learn a bit about the history of the buildings, and shop... for me, it definetely did not require more than a single day. I will post more photos from Oxford soon, as well as photos from Paris...
My first day in Paris, Sunday, was very rough because I had not slept in three nights and it began to catch up with me. Nonetheless, I managed to wander aimlessly (as is my favorite thing to do so far in Paris). Yesterday was the first day which I felt somewhat human again, and therefore, fell head over heels in love with Paris. The life here is incredible - the streets are absolutely filled with people at all times, day or night. One does not even need to come to Paris for the museums. I stopped by the Louvre, admired the outside architecure, but the line did not appeal to me (it looked like a line to get into heaven). So instead, I have spent my time walking all around the city and admiring the ambience and life. More later, but for now Au revoir!

And I'm Off!

After yesterday's debacle of missing my flight due to my last-minute missing passport, I feel odd sitting here at the San Diego airport after today's completely calm and uneventful morning. After waking up on time, having everything packed the night before, having time to shower, and not forgetting anything... something feels very unfamiliar. I am not even slightly frantic (this is new) - hopefully this is a a telling foreshadow for the five months ahead. Of course, a little craziness will be welcomed at times, but I certainly hope that losing my passport and missing my flight will be the greatest tribulation of my travel adventures.

I must make a quick note that as I went through security, it occured to me that I would make a great advertisement for the Kindle electronic reader. I could act as the "before" model for the infomercial. The attached photo says it all.

By the way, San Diego airport has free wireless internet - ahhh, the days of travel have certainly changed....
